PRIVATE DESIGN COURSES

Quality, not quantity. Detail, not speed.

Stunning Beauty
The Ledges Golf Course

Almost every must play course in the world has one thing in common. The land is show. The Master architects can turn anything into something special, but some landscapes have to be played and seen to experience their greatness. The Ledges in Huntsville, Alabama is built on a pedestal of a plateau mountain, with nearly every hole playing along its ledges. Thus the obvious name. Pictures cannot do this course justice. Go and experience it in GSPro, but make sure you are hitting it straight off the tee box before you climb this mountain!

COMMISSIONED WORK
The Bridges of Montrose

It does not matter if the course I am designing is a personal passion, project, historic venue for the masses and tournaments, or a commissioned course I have never heard of. I fall in love with every track, and every design I do will receive the same personally unhealthy level of details, extras and loving care. The Bridges of Montrose was commissioned by a passionate member, supported by the course, and seen through with every detail imaginable. I'm very proud of the work, and yes, I did indeed fall in love with the course while designing it! I highly encourage everyone to give this Jack Nicklaus course a playthrough in GSPro. It's a wonderful layout, and I strived to give it elite realism and extras. There are a dozen custom buildings, a clubhouse, 5 homes, bridges, fences, trucks, and animals as well.

PASSION PROJECT
Prairie Dunes AKA Prairie Knolls

Since I began playing golf and gold video games as a kid, one course always stood out to me among many as a dream. Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson, Kansas. Designed by the Masters Perry and Press Maxwell. Consistently ranked high in the Top 100 US Courses, it was a dream to get to design this course for GSPro. I partnered with Judd Shea (aka Runpuddrun) who also held this course close in his heart and was kind enough to reach out to me and include me. Together, we accomplished things no one every has. I developed new methods in design with Blender and some of the other tools provided us. I taught Judd the ropes and he brought his mastery of the game engine and planting and building out the course. We did it all, hundreds of hours. Custom trees, items, buildings, every bunker hand modeled based on reference. We couldn't be happier with our result.

BEGIN WITH THE LAND
The Fold at Eastwood

I suppose all the great architects say "It all begins with the right piece of land." It's true. Even in the digital space, I prefer to think of my courses as being just something that exists within the landscape it resides on. Nature is king.

I'm incredibly proud of my first effort, The Fold at Eastwood, but I know I can do better. I've learned so much. I pushed design further, and GSPRO has given us designers such incredible new tools. I want to leverage them to their fullest and give this course an Ultimate Edition. All new textures from my own photography. All new bunkers with the new skills I have. All new blending with the tools provided. I'm just getting started, but feeling really good about the direction it's heading.

LEGENDARY COURSES
Winged Foot East and West
*Wing Dafoot in GSPro

I have a great love for the history of the game, and especially for the golden age, "Old Master" Architects. Perhaps the most famous of the many masterpieces of A.W. Tillinghast is the 36 holes of Winged Foot. Iconic greens, bunkers, layouts and even clubhouse. I spend many months making sure every piece of these layouts was accurate. I even created an entire 3d modeled forest of Elm trees to give the course the proper feel. Including the singular "best elm tree in New York" which sits behind the 2nd green of the West course.

The West course is the most famous, and has played host to numerous USGA events, including some of the most famous U.S. Open's in history. But don't sleep on the East course, which while not quite as brutally hard, it is no less beautiful. It contains some of the finest par 3s in the land.

PRECISE RE-CREATION
Quail Hollow Club

Picture
I took on the Quail Hollow Club at the request of the SGT Tour where it was played alongside the actual Wells Fargo tournament. This is a course I had always loved and was honored to take the challenge. The bunkers are iconic. flat tongues jut out, lips are steep and the surrounds are shaved tight to catch balls. They were a real challenge to individually craft each and every one! And don't get me started on the 20 hours it took to do the famous creek running up the 18th hole!

CHANGE EVERYTHING!
Stratus Nine Country Club

Picture
Remember those 9 holes that were...unimpressive...on the first local course? Well I changed them completely. The land is excellent, the budget for golf design was not. I took it as a chance to use the layout and geographic data to make something completely new. Extreme bunkering, exposed rock cliffs and boulders, woodland like the Northern Minnesota forests, and terrain texture painting using the brand new OPCD v4 Tools.

Changing what in the real world is a basic, cheap, city course into something special and worth playing, while retaining the feel and shots needed on the real course. This is Stratus Nine Country Club.

ICONIC STRUCTURES
Muirfield Village Golf Course

Sometimes no matter how special a course is, it just wouldn't be the same if it didn't have the views of the clubhouse, snack shacks, mansions and range markers.  Muirfield Village Golf Course is one of those places. This was a co-design I helped with recently. The course was designed wholly by the wonderful designer Pakman. (Find him on Discord!) He asked me to help him out by designing structures for the course. I went nuts. As usual. We of course started with the clubhouse, but once complete I went on to do the dock house snack shack, the golf range training facility, bridges and dams, water tower, range map stone wall, mini golf bag for the hitting stations, and even a vending machine. The more the better I say. I love to do 3D design and modeling and there is nothing too big or too small to do if it adds to that extra special ambiance of your course.

FUN and PRACTICE
Riverwalk Skills Challenge

Anything is possible and imagination is the only limit. Now when it comes to something this incredible in creativity and scope, it pays to have the best help. This incredible practice canal is full of challenges and side games to warm up in, push your game, or beat your friends at. Ryan Deyer (rdeyer) asked me contribute structures to this practice masterpiece. I created all buildings on the right side of the canal and he did the others. He was also fully responsible for all the game creation and additional scripting that makes it all possible.
